This was always a favorite album of mine. I, along with the other musicians on the date, had been recording jingles for Bernie and his company, Parasound. This was an early example of what was to be world music. Wayne Shorter had just recorded "Native Dancer" with Brazillian singer/composer Milton Nascimento and we were all looking outside the US for inspiration. I always remember the rehearsals as I would pick up Kenneth Nash, the percussionist, and we'd have these great hangs in the car which, I felt, led to the musical connection we had on the subsequent Listen album, "Growing"!
